Brand storytelling for positively lovely founders and travel brands

From founder profiles to mission statements, About pages and taglines, I’ll help you build a brand storytelling guidebook that communicates your values and USP, giving your customers a clear reason to choose you over anyone else.

Crafting a brand story sounds simple, but...

It’s tricky to step back and capture your brand’s journey in a way that’s clear, concise and genuinely engaging.

You know you’re different, but putting into words what makes you stand out – without clichés, bragging or boring people – is another matter.

Add limited time, mixed writing confidence and uncertainty over what’s actually relevant from your background, and it’s easy to turn to AI, which churns out generic, lookalike copy that doesn’t sound like you at all.

Hey, I'm Emma!

Once upon a time, I opened a beauty salon in a city already brimming with them. It wasn’t until I wove my obsession with travel into my story that my humble brand became an award‑winning business that thrived for twelve years.

Now I help founder‑led and travel brands do the same.

Your business is more than just a product or service. It’s a mosaic of the people who’ve inspired you, the lessons you’ve learned, the mistakes you’ve made, your values and your voice.

My job is to capture all of that and build a brand messaging guidebook that gives you a voice that truly represents what your brand stands for, so you can connect with the right customers and rise above the noise.

Which brands have I worked with?

  • W Hotels – Hotel narratives to anchor all content and communication as the brand launched in various European cities.
  • Bloomsbury London – Brand strategy, tone of voice, mission statement and website copy for this central London neighbourhood.
  • The Great Escape – A full suite of brand messaging, including mission, values, brand dictionary and guidelines.
  • Various founder‑led businesses – Shaping about pages, taglines and business dictionaries.

"I f**king LOVE it!"
"I came to Emma when I was struggling with my brand voice, and pulling together a tagline for my rebrand. I sent Emma some notes, and we had a call to chat over everything. The questions asked were clever in pulling out the personal touches of my business that make me me. My first response when Emma sent through the copy work was "I f**king LOVE it!" It gave me goosebumps. It really pulled out what I had been trying for so long to say and convey. I cannot recommend her services, creativity, story-telling and copywriting highly enough!"

"Her ability to condense a lot of babble down into a meaningful story is incredible"
"I asked Emma to create an About Page for my website as my prior one was written by myself and lacked direction and impact. All Emma needed from me was one Zoom call to ask all of the right questions to draw the necessary information about my history to create an incredible about page which now speaks to who I am, what my company stands for and the vision we have. Her ability to condense a lot of spoken babble down into a concise and meaningful story is incredible. I can't recommend my experience enough!"

Brand storytelling services

Build a brand guidebook that suits your needs by mixing and matching the elements below, or choose the full brand guidebook to get everything in one go.

Foundations
You’ll receive a mission statement, vision statement, 3–5 core values with short descriptions, a tone of voice overview with light do/don’t notes, and a clear USP.

This gives you a solid anchor for all your messaging and makes it obvious why you exist and what sets you apart.
Social media essentials
You’ll get 2–3 short bios for key platforms, 3–5 social media pillars to guide your content, and 4–6 example posts or captions that bring your pillars and tone to life.

This helps you post with confidence, stay on‑brand and vary your content without second‑guessing every caption.
Messaging
You’ll receive a brand dictionary of on‑brand words and phrases (plus a few to avoid), 2–3 tagline options, a draft Website About page that tells your founder‑led story and a tight elevator pitch you can use in conversations, pitches and profiles.

This makes it easy to explain your brand clearly, humanise your story and give your audience a strong reason to choose you.

FAQs

A Brand Guidebook is a focused document that captures your story, positioning and key messages in one place. It includes your mission, vision, values, tone of voice, USP and the core messages you want your audience to remember. It may also include social bios, content pillars, example posts, a brand dictionary, tagline, About page and elevator pitch. Think of it as your brand’s “instruction manual” for how you talk about yourself.

In a world of AI‑generated, lookalike content, a clear brand story and consistent messaging are what make you memorable. A Brand Guidebook helps you show up the same way across your website, social media, emails and pitches, so people understand who you are, what you stand for and why they should choose you. It saves you time, reduces guesswork and makes every piece of copy work harder.

We start with a call to understand your brand, goals and where you feel stuck. From there, I’ll recommend which sections (Foundations & Positioning, Social Media Essentials, Messaging) will move the needle most, and we can mix and match to create a guidebook that fits your needs and budget.

Brand storytelling projects are priced as a fixed fee based on my day rate of £390. After a short call to understand your goals and budget, I’ll give you a quote before we begin. The investment will depend on how many sections you include, how much existing material you already have and how many rounds of feedback etc.

Sure, if you want to sound like everyone else! AI can’t extract the emotional core of your journey, position it strategically and turn it into clear, distinctive messaging that feels like you. When we work together, you get a brand story and guidebook that AI can’t replicate, because it’s built on your real story, not other content from the internet.

No. The initial call is to figure out what you actually need. We’ll decide together after we’ve talked through your situation.

Just a rough idea of your story so far, who you serve and what you’re struggling with most (for example: “I can’t explain what I do”, “My social feels all over the place”, “My About page sounds generic”). If you have existing copy, website links or brand guidelines, those help, but they’re not essential.

Most projects are completed within 2–4 weeks from our first call, depending on the scope and how quickly you can give feedback on drafts. We’ll agree a timeline that works for you before we start.

You’ll have a clear reference document for all your messaging. You can use it yourself, share it with your team, or hand it to freelancers and agencies so everyone writes in one consistent voice. If you want, we can also work together on specific pieces of copy (website, campaigns, emails) using the guidebook as the foundation.
